In the genre of sci-fi novels, Gabriella Zielke has potential to stand out and make an impact using delightful worldbuilding skills that are put to work in realized hopes of leaving behind a philosophical message regarding human nature. This is shown in the novel The Sound of Creation, a book that has the ability to leave a lasting impact on anyone who reads it. I desperately wish to leave a 4.75-star rating out of 5 on this cleverly crafted work. Unfortunately, we cannot slice stars in half. As such, a 4-star rating must suffice.

Ava Lawson, CEO of Sense Labs, slaves away at creating an artificial intelligence with the intention to make great profit. She has high hopes for her project, but nothing could prepare her for the hopes others would have for her invention—the hopes of obtaining and controlling it, that is. Creation has a sound, and that sound drives humans practically insane. When exposed to the sounds emitted by this invention, people begin to act erratically and unpredictably. Most importantly, they begin to act and speak truthfully.

Honesty, as such, became an issue and a theme in this novel. But where did all this start? Well, it began with Zek. An apprentice creator of worlds, Zek made Earth in his vision. It was the perfect idea as far as getting him higher on the ladder. But as any seemingly perfect thing, it backfired quickly. Earth was filled with anomalies, resulting in Zek’s superiors wishing for this creation of his to be destroyed. Desperate to save his creation, Zek…well, what’s the fun in me telling you? I suggest you purchase this book and find out for yourself.

Indeed, I have doubts this book will disappoint. The worldbuilding is spectacularly thought out and displayed. The chapters are short and consistent in length, making this a perfect read for those of us who must plan our reading time. The editing was flawless. I noticed no typos or grammatical errors. The only qualms I have preventing me from rating this book perfectly are small. Some chapters transitioned into the next unclearly, leading to just a small bit of confusion that was quickly resolved. Occasionally, a character’s personality was found to be inconsistent…and no, not in the presence of the insanity-inducing sound! The exposition of this book was well done. The ending was clear and impactful. Overall, I encourage you to read this novel. You will likely enjoy it.
