Sent to Watch, written by David J. Lebenstein. We are presented with a sci-fi book that talks about the existence of other beings watching us from above and blending alongside normal humans. The author played around with the genres of science, technology, history, and romance, making this book the way it is. I especially would like to point out the love triangle between Unni, Ori, and Urelt, giving us moments to grieve for each. As for the science and technology part, it was quite a thrill to learn about the multiple Earths presented in this story and to learn that our Earth isn’t the first. I would also like to emphasise the fact that these alien planets have a higher level of technology than we do. And since this story took place in the past and all the names and places are historical, who could say that this isn’t really what happened in those times? The author gives detailed explanations of the characters and the places, making it easy to imagine how they would have looked. As for the language, the author used plenty of rarely used words, which could be a learning opportunity for some people. However, the reason I gave this book a 1-star is that it was kind of a slow burn; I felt like it was a necessity to read this rather than a joy or pleasure. Drug addiction is mentioned at the beginning of the story as well as between the lines of the book. There were multiple spelling errors and grammatical errors, which led me to sit a while in confusion trying to interpret what those sentences meant, and although the glossary helped immensely, I did find the names very confusing (as one person tended to have two names), which led me to refer back to the glossary multiple times to make sure I had been reading the story correctly. In my opinion, the way the book could be improved is by making it a bit more of a pleasure to read, a bit more exciting in a way, to get rid of the spelling and grammatical errors, and to make the names a little bit less confusing for the reader.
