The mixture of magic, fantasy, ancient times, royalty, wars and corruption gives the book an incredible capacity to capture the reader's attention from the very first moment, which is the reason why I consider its rating to be 4 out of 4. In addition, the interweaving of the stories of such different characters, giving a number of different perspectives of the world they live in and how they see it, makes the reader curious to continue reading and find out what the future holds for them.

From my point of view, there are two parallel lines in the story that give it contrast and make it slightly confusing but motivating. On the one hand, the enormous difference between Galen, a naive, surviving boy that has humble desires and wants to honor his uncle's small but beloved legacy, and the rest of the characters that belong to the magic world or the royalty, as can be, Wilhem, Eldus or Meldorath… On the other hand, the juxtaposition of two worlds coexisting, the magical one called Caromentis and the physical one, Cosmos.

About the prologue, I enjoyed the quick succession of actions that made me interest on the story from the beginning, also how it is well linked to the rest of the book introducing the characters of Orlin and Meldorath and giving you a flashback that helps to explain what happened at Hillport.

For the beginning of the story, I liked to get to know Galen from the start and what it moves him to keep surviving, although I think that his chapters are slower than the rest and kind of slows down the normal course of the book. In my opinion, I liked the rest of the characters more as they have a background story more interesting and complicated, especially Wilhem, Midius Maido, Indara and Meldorath. They are really well constructed characters that make you want to discover their past and even more their future. For Meldorath, the way he is extremely mysterious makes it hard to understand him, but I'm guessing more of him is to be known in other books of the saga.
As the story continues, the expectations about what will happen to the town of Hillport and what the true Meldorath's desires are will grow, and when you go towards the end, new and unexpected events arise that make you want to know what the outcome of the story will be.

Finally, it should be noted that the different scenarios and buildings described in the book make you want to travel there, and spaces like Calathire, Diadem or Magnum Caelum develop the reader's imagination and the need to see them.
