"Sent to Watch" by David Lebenstein emerges as a remarkable science fiction narrative, guiding readers on an extraordinary journey through the dimensions of time and space. The book transported me to an alternate reality where the exploration of the multiverse was vividly realized. The author skillfully integrated the Battle of Waterloo (1815) into this imaginative setting, transforming historical events into a captivating narrative.

A notable aspect throughout the book was the accurate representation of historical facts from the battle seamlessly woven into the sci-fi narrative. It's uncommon to encounter such a compelling perspective on an ancient war, where the complexities of political and cultural conflicts of the era are well justified.

The novel's science fiction components are just as fascinating. The notion of spies from a coalition of other worlds obtaining information about the advancement of other societies provokes thought. The book dives into the concept of creating artificial gravity and investigates the idea of forecasting future events through probabilistic simulations, making for an engaging and creative read for science enthusiasts.

The book has many positive aspects, such as unique ideas and strong writing. However, several passages can use more seamless transitions. The reader may find it difficult to follow the plot's development due to the overuse of ethereal language. A more seamless transition between settings and a reduction in information could improve the overall reading experience and make some parts of the narrative seem less rushed. All things considered, the story's overall enjoyment is not greatly diminished by these small problems.

I would give "Sent to Watch" four stars out of five. The work has been proficiently edited and contains a few faults, making for an improved reading experience. I suggest this book to anyone who enjoys science fiction as well as those who are curious about historical fiction with a contemporary touch. For anyone looking for a unique and thought-provoking journey, the book is a must-read because it presents a captivating combination of science and history. Nonetheless, there is a lot of room for development.
