Review of Sent to Watch
Sent to Watch is a captivating sci-fi novel that explores the possibility of life beyond our solar system. The author, who is an avid astronomy lover, creates a realistic and fascinating scenario of how different alien species might look and behave, and what challenges they might face in interstellar travel. The book also delves into the political and social aspects of space exploration, as well as the emotional and romantic relationships that develop among the characters.
The book is full of suspense and surprises, as the plot twists keep the reader hooked and guessing. Some of the twists are predictable, but others are completely unexpected and shocking. The author does a great job of building tension and suspense throughout the story, making it hard to put down. The book also has a lot of humor and wit, as the author injects some funny and sarcastic remarks into the dialogue and narration.
One of the things that I liked about the book was the author's use of scientific facts and theories to support his imagination. The author explains the physics and mechanics of space travel, such as the speed of light, wormholes, time dilation, and gravity. He also gives a fair and balanced assessment of the pros and cons of traveling faster than light, which is still a controversial topic in science. The author also shows his knowledge of astronomy and cosmology, as he describes the different planets, stars, galaxies, and phenomena that the characters encounter.
The plot: Three alien agents observe Earth in the 1800s. They are part of a secret organization that monitors the development of primitive planets and decides when they are ready to join a peaceful alliance of human-like civilizations. However, they face a dilemma when they discover that a hostile alien empire is planning to invade and enslave Earth. They break the rules and help Earth advance. They have a son who will be a leader. They face danger and love.
One thing that I expected from the book, but did not find, was a discussion of doppelgangers. Since the author mentions that there are physical similarities among some of the alien species, I thought he would explore the idea of parallel universes or alternate realities. However, he only focuses on languages and habitats as the main factors that influence the diversity of life forms.
Overall, I enjoyed reading Sent to Watch and I would recommend it to anyone who loves science fiction and astronomy. It is a well-written and engaging book that will make you think and wonder about the mysteries of the universe.
