The book Genesis Awakens by Akorede Adekoya and Howard Haugom was very intriguing. The authors take their audience on a trip that covers many generations, going back to biblical times and stopping here in the present, with many breaks in the middle. The authors weaved a story around many historical characters that are well known, starting with Jesus and the people around Him during His life and death and ending with descendants of the well-known Empress Helena. I kept coming back for more because I wanted to know what happened next with each of the storylines. I would give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 for the beautifully woven storyline that encompassed multiple generations. It was well edited, with only a few minor but noticeable errors in the text. It has lots of flashbacks that reveal parts of the characters histories; this also has the negative effect of throwing you off if you don't pay attention. This is a book series that keeps you on your toes with surprise twists. I love how it includes historical events from the Bible and mixes them with what is referred to as people that wield magic. There are many references to scriptures from the Bible, but not too many to make it seem overdone. I loved how it went back and told the story from different characters points of view, so the audience knew what happened to the different characters. I also loved how the main character finds strength in scriptures read to her as a child, and it definitely felt like I could relate to the character more because of this. The scriptures the authors referenced fit perfectly with the storyline, making the theme stand out. I can't wait to see where the authors take the story in the next books in the series.
