We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a sci-fi book that focuses on the kingdom of Voulhire, its politics, and its relationship with other kingdoms. Galen Bray leaves his homeland and sails to Magnum Caelum.

He is greeted with the news of his uncle's death. Rowan, his uncle's enforcer, shows him around the city. Meanwhile, Eldus gets appointed ruler of Hillport by King Wilhelm Arcolo. He moves there immediately with his family and tries to get the city back to its former glory. What role does Galen play in Voulhire? Grab a copy to find out.

I enjoyed reading this book. It preached values like honesty, loyalty, love, hard work, and respect. Rowan was my favorite character. He was loyal to Galen and did a lot to help him settle in quickly. He even helped Galen learn blacksmithing. Galen was another character I liked. He was down-to-earth and always willing to learn. These attributes helped him thrive in a foreign land. I learned about the negative effects of war on society.

While the world-building was great, there were too many cities, and it became hard to keep track of them. It confused me a lot. I also didn't like how everyone was afraid to call Meldorath's name. It felt like the author was copying Harry Potter. I give this book a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. I didn't find any grammatical errors, indicating it was exceptionally well-edited.

This book contains a lot of suspense and even ends with a cliffhanger. I enjoyed reading about the political moves various characters made to stay ahead of their peers. As the first book in the series, it was great and set the foundation for the books to follow. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy reading sci-fi books filled with action, suspense, and drama.
