Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a fantasy and science fiction novel by Matthew Tysz. It follows the lives of key characters and their involvement in the fictional world of Voulhire. These characters' actions will shape the fate of Voulhire in the coming years.
Among them is Galen Bray, a fugitive from another nation who has found peace and unexpectedly inherited from his deceased uncle in Voulhire. There's Rowan, the executor of Galen's uncle's will and the person responsible for rescuing Galen from his war-torn home. Then there's King Wilhelm Arcolo, the current ruler of Voulhire, and Lord Eldus Alderman, who has recently been appointed as Lord of Hillport. Additionally, there's Meldorath, a sinister mage whose relentless pursuit of power has put him at odds with Voulhire, and The Riva Rohavi, a mysterious nation with a clear intent to destroy Voulhire. With these forces at play, what fate awaits Voulhire?
I enjoyed this story primarily because of Matthew Tysz's writing style. He possesses the rare ability to captivate the audience from beginning to end. The book combines both modern and classical elements, resulting in a unique and appealing narrative. While much of the story appears to be set in a time before the advent of automobiles, the language used by the characters adds a modern touch to it.
The character development in this book is truly impressive. The author has invested a remarkable level of effort into crafting well-rounded characters. Given that it is the first installment in the We are Voulhire series, such attention to character development is expected, but it is still commendable.
What I particularly appreciated about the character development is that no character is merely a side note or an afterthought. Each one plays a significant role in the progression of the story and contributes to the overall narrative. Even minor characters are given their moments of importance and are seamlessly woven into the fabric of the plot.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and I couldn't find anything I disliked about it. I would give it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars for the reasons mentioned above. The book was professionally edited, and I could not find any errors in it. Matthew Tysz did a fantastic job with this book, and I absolutely loved it. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves reading fantasy books; they will find great pleasure in reading this book.
