Galen Bray, a 28-year-old survivor from the war-torn Land of the Princes, seizes a chance for a fresh start when his great uncle, Galen Onita, leaves him his steel business in Voulhire. Assisted by Rowan, his uncle's estate executor, Galen makes his way to Voulhire. However, he soon realizes that Voulhire is not as it seems, hiding evil, secrets, and darkness beneath its sunny facade.

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is an exciting fantasy novel following Galen Bray's adventures in Voulhire. It is the first book in the "We are Voulhire" series. The author skillfully weaves a captivating plot with well-developed characters. The author's imagination shines through, creating the unique world of Voulhire. Tysz's writing style is easily understandable, making Voulhire feel like a real place. The inclusion of a map at the beginning of the book enhances the understanding of the story's locations. The novel explores themes of magic, politics, power, and corruption, with a particularly notable exploration of political aspects and religious influence.

Among the cast of characters, Galen emerges as my favorite due to his humility, compassion, and innocence. His second chance at a new life in a more promising environment is something I find relatable.

While We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a remarkable book, there are a few areas for improvement. The story has a slow start, which may deter some readers initially. Additionally, the inclusion of different viewpoints from other characters can be confusing and requires careful attention. Lastly, the absence of numbered chapters, only titles, may disrupt the reading experience for those accustomed to numbered chapters. However, the book is exceptionally well-edited, free of errors.

Overall, We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies captivates readers with its engaging plot, well-developed characters, and imaginative world-building. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars due to the above reasons. I highly recommend it to fans of fantasy fiction.
