I recently had the pleasure of reading the book Bi-Polaroid by David Samuelson. It is a collection of creative pieces such as poems, plays, short stories, and diary entries. The author narrates some of his experiences living with bipolar disorder. The themes addressed in this creative work include love and relationships, loneliness and frustrations, mental illness, and personal growth.

In the book, we see the raw and authentic emotions of a person living with the condition. David Emanuelson narrates the unpredictable nature of being bipolar through the constant mood changes in his poems and diary entries. He tells us how his interactions with authority figures, peers, and subordinates shaped our perspective on communication, motivation, and work ethics. The poem "My Love" stood out for me. The author uses writing as an outlet.

I liked the vivid descriptions and imagery in the book. Through vivid descriptions, the author painted a clear image of what was happening, enabling me to understand and empathize with his situation. I appreciate the author's efforts in addressing the issue of mental illness and helping us understand the challenges those affected go through. This book is very educational. I learned that embracing positive experiences can help combat depression.

I found it challenging to read some creative pieces because they were written in capital letters all through. Also, the book was not very well organized. I understand that it might have been to reflect the author's state of mind.

I give this book a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. The book was not very well edited. I found several grammatical errors, which made me deduct a point from the rating. Otherwise, the book is very engaging from the first page to the last. I would recommend this book to teenagers and adults interested in learning about bipolar.
