Voulhire, a captivating realm, is the backdrop of a captivating tale, We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies woven by Matthew Tysz. The story delves into the lives of Galen, a modest refugee, and Eldus Alderman, a resolute lord, as they navigate the awe-inspiring yet treacherous world of Voulhire. Having escaped a war-torn land, Galen arrives in the grand kingdom of Voulhire with aspirations of finding solace and creating a tranquil existence, tending to the forge he inherited from his uncle. However, having only known the harsh realities of survival, Galen encounters challenges as he acquaints himself with the unfamiliar customs of Voulhire. Alongside his companion, Rowan, he embarks on a journey to explore the vast empire, oblivious to the calamitous events unfolding in other parts of the kingdom.

King Wilhelm appoints Eldus Alderman, a former judge, as the new lord of Hillport, an unassuming and underdeveloped town. Though outwardly serene, Hillport has endured immense tragedy under the rule of two previous lords, both tainted by reprehensible actions. Of the two, Meldorath's name invokes greater fear throughout the realm. As Eldus endeavours to transform Hillport into a thriving coastal hub, he grapples with the daunting task of upholding the legacy of a powerful and feared mage like Meldorath. While the focus of the book revolves primarily around Galen and Eldus, occasional glimpses into the minds of other characters add depth to the narrative.

The book crafted by the author is a remarkable achievement, skillfully constructing a narrative that is devoid of any plot holes. It immerses readers in a breathtaking universe and timeline, one that evokes a desire to inhabit its splendour. The characters, meticulously developed, possess a relatability that infuses the reading experience with a sense that each one possesses a unique tale eagerly awaiting revelation. What captivated me the most was the artful intertwining of the characters' perspectives, culminating in their collective involvement in a climactic event.

There is nothing I disliked about this book. It presents a well-crafted plot infused with philosophical elements that provoke contemplation. The descriptions are skillfully executed, allowing readers to develop a certain degree of empathy towards the characters. Brimming with action, humour, and enchantment at every turn, this book is a must-read for aficionados of the fantasy genre. I would highly recommend this book to individuals who appreciate well-written and thought-provoking literature. Fans of meticulously crafted plots, rich character development, and philosophical undertones would find this book particularly engaging.

I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. Death and violence, inherent aspects of human existence, are masterfully depicted, showcasing the full spectrum of humanity and its imperfections. The narrative poignantly underscores the notion that regardless of the universe we inhabit, our inherent flaws persist, leading us inevitably towards conflict throughout various epochs in history. The book was exceptionally well-edited and error-free.
