Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
Galen Bray is a young man from the war-tone Lands of the Princess. The war, which has been going on for twenty years, was unleashed by four princes hungry for power. All Galen has known his entire life is fear, death, starvation, and suffering. Galen is informed that he has an uncle in Voulhire, who would like him to inherit his estate. As soon as he gets the chance to flee his war-tone home, he does so. He boards a ship headed for Voulhire, a land that he only heard about in stories. He finally sets foot in Voulhire after a rough journey. He is determined to be a great blacksmith and carry on his uncle’s legacy. He then meets Rowan, his uncle’s executor, and a great friendship is born. Rowan helps Galen adjust to Voulhire. Together, Galen and Rowan embark on a splendid journey to explore this new land.
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a fantasy and science fiction novel. It is the first book of the We Are Voulhire series. There is nothing not to love in this book. The book is immensely humorous. The reader is bound to laugh while reading this book. I love the author’s writing style. He describes events in the book so vividly and in a detailed manner. The author takes the reader to a whole new world. The book is also filled with suspense and immense thrill. I was kept on my toes as I could not wait to know what happens next. The author’s choice of characters is also commendable. Each character has a different personality, making the book even more interesting. The confident Galen, arrogant Midius, and funny Rowan; all these characters are described splendidly. also love how each chapter focuses on a specific character, making the reader more invested.
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a beautifully written book. I love how the author presents lessons on politics, business, friendship, and betrayal. It is great that the author includes a map of Voulhire in his book. There is also a description of terms at the end of the book for words the reader may find hard to understand.
The book has some instances of borderline profanity. The book also features scenes of child abuse which some readers may be uncomfortable with. It also includes some scenes of violence I found to be a little too gory.
With all the above considerations, I rate We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz with five out of five stars. I give this rating because the book is well-written. It is an enjoyable read. I also found the book to be exceptionally well-edited. I did not give a lower rating because there is no aspect of the book that I dislike.
I recommend We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies to a mature audience. Lovers of science fiction novels will also enjoy this book. The book may be a little too advanced for children.
