Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
The story of We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz takes place in the imaginary nation of Voulhire. The main protagonists in the story were diverse collections of people who were pulled together by fate and got entangled in a battle that endangered their world.
When the emperor learned that his sons were plotting to overthrow him, he granted each of them an island to control. These princes governed their countries in terror. People started making an effort to flee the country of the princes, but they were prevented from using every available method. Galen was one of the fortunate ones to be able to leave this country. He ran away to Voulhire, a mystical place. He learns that his late uncle had assets in his name. Galen Bray is in the Voulhirean country, but he has no idea what it holds for him. When compared to the realm of the princes, will it be worse? Will he benefit from it? To learn more, get this book.
Power, identity, and the cost of rebellion are some of the issues that are explored in this book, which also has fascinating characters and a richly developed setting. It's the first of a series, and it establishes the plot for a bigger, more exciting novel. The author's writing is immersive and engrossing, which makes it easy for the reader to fall in love with the plot and the characters. Although the book moves quickly and is full of action and suspense, it also takes time to examine the characters' emotional difficulties and personal development. The book's excellent setting was another aspect I enjoyed. Maps provided by the author contributed to the realism of the place and the clarity of the political system. My favorite character in this book is the wise king, who applied wisdom to prevent his sons from killing him.
Unfortunately, I won't claim that I enjoyed everything in the book. There were so many different characters and plotlines that the book was not able to explain in detail. It was hard for me to get involved in the story since I was distant. These were the only negative I came across.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because of the captivating location and other great features I discussed in my review. This book was flawless since the editing was so excellent. Fans of epic fantasy and heroic missions will enjoy this narrative since it is filled with magic, adventure, and self-discovery. Anyone who appreciates fantasy and adventure stories should read this book, in my opinion.
