Kim is a member of the Artificial Intelligence firm. In this age of technology, any ambitious lady would desire such a dream. The position offered numerous benefits and the possibility of leading a luxurious lifestyle. Kim wanted to advance through the ranks and establish herself as a recognized authority in Artificial Intelligence. Everything was going according to plan until she uncovered the strange monitoring being carried out by the Hierarchy to maintain social order. The essential tenets of fundamental freedom were gradually eroded and violated by this. As AI surveillance was strengthened in the name of civilization, the irony of a flawless world controlled by the ideals of harmony, community, and equality suffocated. She became deviant to the surveillance, the violation of her basic rights to freedom, and the imposed decisions made against her will by the Hierarchy. She is caught between harming her social cohesiveness score and the excellent life she had envisioned. The world gradually transformed into a robotic tragedy devoid of the zest of life borne out of fear. A decision must be made to save freedom. Did her self-trained robot motivate her to break free? Did civilization truly depend on AI? What were the lies Kim saw? The clock is ticking; will she manage to elude the Hierarchy's grasp and their selfish plot against her? Will Shan forgive her?

The contemporary technical developments in today's world are cleverly depicted by Craig W. Stanfill in Terms of Service: Subject to Change Without Notice. The author deftly weaved fiction into reality to serve as a wake-up call, as the better classes of the globe ignorantly go to sleep. His writing style is remarkable, offering new words and phrases that will be useful as society transitions into the technological era. He used contemporary slang to depict the days of the week, anatomical parts, and other scientific topics, demonstrating his use of the poetic license. That struck me as original and much different from the norm.

With the ongoing advancements in robotic engineering and Artificial Intelligence, this compelling fictional scenario persuaded me that the virtual world could resemble reality more closely than previously thought. In light of the sequel, Terms of Service, Book 2: The Prophecy of the Heron, the author's last words are a fitting reminder for everyone to remain vigilant and exercise independent thoughts. I appreciated the distinct companies controlling the different gamut of society from matchmaking, food, transportation, clothes, etc. The orderliness in the artificial intelligence-driven sectors was innovative. These innovations, however, seemed very intrusive, clamping down on citizens’ infractions of their respective terms of service. This was excessive and left no room for simple human errors.

I was turned off by the excessive usage of drinks and a combination of drugs to elicit sex. The idea of policing sexual preferences and orientations was also unfavorable because it represented an extreme and prejudiced attempt to impose an orderly society. No profanity was used, but there was a detailed depiction of erotic and private sexual encounters.

There were no grammatical or spelling faults in the book. This book was perfectly edited. I rate this book five stars out of five stars. There was no reason to deduct a star. While I didn't like the excessive use of drugs in this book, I couldn't deduct a star for that. Readers who enjoy science fiction and Artificial Intelligence should read this book. It is a great book for those who want to understand how interactions between humans and robots might turn out. Because of the sexual scenes in this book, it is only suitable for adults.
