The book Arko - The Dark Union by U. W. Leo is about five teenagers who discovered ancient secrets and how they helped bring some good changes in the world. A science-fiction story with some great humor.

The story starts when five teenagers named Ariel, Gaia, Amir, Ben, and Abigail accidentally find a mysterious cave with a traveling machine. They inform to their parents, a group of scientists researching Mayan culture. Their interests spike, and they decide to investigate more about the caves. During the investigation, they stumble upon the preserved dinosaur's eggs and some mysterious objects. Gustav, one of the scientists, decides to hatch some of the eggs and experiment on them.

To help them with the investigation, they decide to take the help of a friend or maybe a foe? What happens to the dinosaurs? Does their research have any results? What are those mysterious things in the cave? What all of these things will lead to?

The book has fantastic premises, themes, humor, and friendship. The author describes the settings clearly, and the language used is simple. I like how their group doesn't leave anyone of them in trouble. They stick together all the time and support each other. Also, I like that some of them cared about the animals. I loved how they mentioned the generosity of the Mexican people.

However, most of the time, the dialogues were forced. Several times, I felt the children were more collected than the adults. The adults were going berserk or complaining. Isaac and Ariel were clever but annoying a lot of the time. The only level-headed person in the book was Gaia, and maybe sometimes Daniel. The scientific explanation was sometimes heavy to understand.

The start of the book is slow, and it paces up during the fifth chapter. All the action and drama take place sixth chapter onwards. The book is 320 pages and has 10 chapters with the title. The use of profanity is measured and when required. Also, I didn't find any grammatical errors.

I will rate this book 3 out of 5 stars for its humor, well editing, and efforts to keep the story on track. I deducted 2 stars because I felt it would have been a good fantasy fiction story. I recommend it to audiences who are fans of the "saving the world" theme.
