It's the year 180 of the Common Era, from the lands of the princes, a land plagued with never-ending wars, where death seemingly lurks at every turn and step. A young man embarked on a voyage to the Great Kingdom of Voulhire, a nation in its golden age. With the hope of escaping the troubled lands of the princes that are his homeland, the young Galen Bray departed to the distant kingdom, where his great uncle has left for him a comfortable life and a small blacksmithing business. While in Voulhire, a rebellion is brewing under the surface, and a newly appointed lord made his way into a humble fishing town under the looming presence of the supposed dead mage.

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a science-fiction/fantasy book by Matthew Tysz. This book is the first installment of the Voulhire series. I find the story of this book quite engaging, it starts from the prologue with a big action, which I think is great. Although the pace is getting quite slow after that, and while I understand that some people might find that a bit boring, it doesn't bother me that much, since the author keeps enough humor to keep me in the story, and the payoff later is satisfying.

The world-building is one of the things I like the most in this book. From the lands of the prince, war-torn lands that serve as Galen Bray's homeland, the Kingdom of Voulhire with its standing armies such as the legendary Mianoran Knights and the elite Vilendrian Guards, and Caromentis, a realm beyond the physical world from which magic originates. The setting is rich with many detailed places that the author took time to build so that the reader can immerse themselves in the story and have a great time reading this book.

The only thing I dislike about this book is that it is not long enough. But I suppose that's why this book is a series, and I'm definitely going to read the next book as soon as I got the time to do it.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. This book deserves a perfect rating because not only it offers an engaging story, but it is also professionally edited since I found no typos or grammatical errors. I recommend this book to teenagers from the age of 15 and up, and to adults who like fantasy, especially the medieval fantasy genre.
