Review of Terms of Service
In this science fiction and futuristic book, Terms of Service, the author Craig W. Stanfill envisions a world where artificial intelligence supplants human freedom and privacy. With the ability to automate and simplify operations, improve productivity, and lower costs for organizations and individuals, AI has had a significant impact on society. For people with impairments, accessibility and quality of life have increased because of the usage of AI-powered hardware and software.
The story’s protagonist, Kim, is an aspirational worker at The Artificial Intelligence Company with a bright future. Despite her accomplishments, Kim is restricted in her freedom because part of her profession entails training basic machines devoid of free will. Outside of work, Kim lives in a society where civil liberties have been removed and every aspect of life—including food choices, relationships, childbirth, discussion subjects, music, and entertainment—is monitored and evaluated. She longs for a change. Disobeying the laws that the AI and hierarchy impose leads to fast and severe punishment. The tale changes course when Kimberly Jefferson Haley, an AI she built, is introduced. They interact, confront one another, and escape the confines of the AI-created world of order. Kimberly enlightens Kim about the hidden truths that lie beneath their society’s outward appearance of perfection. The story exposes the repressive nature of the world created by AI and the Hierarchy and highlights the need to break free from the constraints and discover one’s true self. What will happen to Kim and her quest for freedom?
The author’s commitment to worldbuilding in the book left me impressed and captivated. The author crafted a meticulously detailed and believable world that encompasses even the most trivial of details, which many authors tend to overlook. The narrative follows the dynamic life of Kim, which captivated my attention from the beginning till the end. Moreover, the plot was unpredictable, with each twist and revelation surprised me, and it was impossible to predict the ending or the direction of the story. My attention was drawn to the developing narrative rather than the resolution of the book’s intricate plot through Craig’s use of compelling characters and dialogue.
There was nothing about the book that I didn’t like.
I gave the book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars because of its excellent organization and wide-ranging subject matter. The book was exceptionally well-edited and error-free. I would recommend this book to readers looking for a unique and robust view of an AI world.
