Go on a musical adventure with Boone ( a small town modern day knight in shining armour ) and Sapphire ( a musical progeny with a mysterious past ) that makes you want to listen to classical melodies, feeling as though you hear the music whilst reading. The Devil Pulls the Strings is a fantasy musical adventure featuring times gone past and events happening today. It starts with a interesting twist, forcing Boone in a direction that is unforeseen, but on this journey he meets Sapphire and from there the adventure starts and never seems to stop, going from one near death escape to the next. It thrills the reader, taking you down the rabbit hole all the way out the other side and into a music loving book.

The book is thoroughly enjoyable and sucks the reader right into the story, so much so the suspense makes you hold your breath until the paragraph is finished with a good natured adrenaline rush pumping through your veins long after the suspense has ended.

I found a couple of inconsistencies and parts that left me a little confused, feeling that any reasonable person would question the situation a whole lot more in real life, giving the sense that sometimes the characters did not have enough dept. Overall it did not change my opinion that J.W. Zarek is a very good writer and that I look forward to reading more of his work.

I rate this book 4 out of 5. If it was not for the minor retelling errors and questions left unasked from multiple characters in the book that had me a little confused at times I definitely would have given this book a full star review. I found only one minor error in the writing that left me with the feeling that the book was very well edited.

I recommend this book for fantasy readers across all ages, it was exciting to read and although a lot of the science descriptions went completely over my head, I never felt that I missed what was being written about that particular section. It has a timeless quality that I could see myself reading again in 15 years time and still enjoy it just as much as I did today. That being said, I could also see my younger self falling in love with this book, the romance that is not physical yet comes through so strong, thus making it ideal for the restraint teenager that I was.
