Matthew Tysz's novel We Are Voulhire tells the story of a kingdom that is experiencing dynamic growth despite the challenges of instability. Magic and physical reality are two opposing virtues that are crucial as the kingdom attempts to establish itself and find its own identity. Voulhire has many natural resources that could help it grow and prosper. But its growth has been threatened by selfish, powerful leaders as well as the use of the dark world of magic which has destabilized the kingdom. One of the few good lords who had good plans for prospering one of the cities of Hillport faced a lot of obstacles and did put their life in danger.

With the confusion going on, a young, poor man named Galen Bray from the Lands of the Princes has migrated to Magnum Caelum, one of the cities in Voulhire. Galen has migrated to inherit his late uncle's business and use the opportunity to make a life for himself. With everything going on in Voulhire, how will Galen cope with the challenges that he will face and what opportunities can he build on? The people he has met since arriving: are they going to help him build the business, or are they also opportunists? One would wonder what awaits Galen's future as an immigrant in Voulhire—will it provide him with prosperity and stability?

We are Voulhire was an interesting book to read. The author gave a good background glossary for the terms and explained in detail about the characters at the beginning of the book. They also provided a map, which was very helpful in visualizing the locations as one read the story. The background information provided made it easy to follow the book and imagine the events and where they took place. I also loved how the character Galen was presented as being so humble, which came out real and was easy to relate to. I enjoyed the author's writing style because it provided me with a variety of reading experiences.

As much as I enjoyed reading the book, it had a few drawbacks. Some of the words used were difficult to comprehend, so I had to pause to look them up. At times, it confused me in understanding the characters, but I got it in the end.

This book was written and edited professionally. This is one book that I could read repeatedly. I did not find any reason to give it a lower rating, so I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

I would recommend this book to people who love fantasy books. Any audience that is into drama and loves a bit of imagination can also read this book because it is so clear, as the author did a good job of providing character names and places beforehand, which makes it easier to relate to and follow. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading the other books in the series.

I'm curious if Galen succeed in Voulhire. What opportunities await him there? It looks like the book has great narrative and a great description of the settings. Your review is awesome, Tamara.
