Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a sci-fi book written by Matthew Tysz. The author narrates the story of the war-torn land of Princes and also the events that occurred in Voulhire. It’s a book that contains a lot of action and suspenseful moments as we get to see different plot twists in the book.
Galen resided in the land of Princes where there was constant war, starvation, and suffering due to the rivalry between the four sons of the emperor. On his quest for greener pastures, he left the land of Princes and traveled to Magnum Caelum, a city in Voulhire. He also had an uncle who resided there. Galen’s uncle is Onita. King Wilhelm Arcolo is the king of Voulhire. He ruled Voulhire and appointed lords who led the people of Hillport. There were controversies about Lord Meldorath's existence. Lord Eldus was appointed to take over, and he would have to restore hope to the people of Hillport. Pick up a copy of the book as you get to unravel a lot of mysteries.
I have always loved action books, and I’m glad I read one. I found a lot of positive aspects to this book. The author's creative ability is something I really admire. The book had a fantastic title and an appealing cover page. One can tell from the cover page that the book is going to be an interesting one. The author did a good job with the character development. We can see from the book how Lord Meldorath was believed to be a threat to the people. I also enjoyed Galen’s friendship with Rowan. The book was suspenseful, and I couldn’t predict the outcome of most events that occurred in the book. I appreciate the glossary at the end of the book. I must say it was really helpful as it made me understand the meaning of some names and terms used in the book.
I didn’t really like the author's writing style. The story didn’t really flow. I expected it to be told in sequence so readers wouldn’t need to go back and forth to keep up with the storyline of the book. It was a bit difficult, though I believe that’s because this is the first book in the series. I also feel Lord Eldus Alderman didn’t live up to the expectations of the people.
I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. I wasn’t satisfied with the storyline of the book, which is why I deducted a star. The book was free from errors because it was exceptionally well edited. I recommend the book to lovers of sci-fi and action books because they will be entertained by the content of the book.
