Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a sci-fi book that tells the story of the events that happened in the land of princes. As the main character, Galen had to leave the land in search of greener pastures. The land of princes suffered from constant war due to the rivalry among the emperor's four sons.
Galen hailed from a war-torn land called the Lands of the Princes, where the masses suffered from unrest, starvation, and poverty. He had to flee to Magnum Caelum in the kingdom of Voulhire, where his uncle, Onita, had previously resided, a place known for science and magic, among other things. Notwithstanding the fact that Voulhire was a prosperous nation being ruled by King Wilhelm Arcolo, they had other forces who were against the progress of Voulhire. There were also political struggles in Hillport. There were several lords, like Lord Orlin, Lord Meldorath, and Lord Eldus, who were at some point the leaders of Hillport. There were a lot of controversies that would be revealed in the book. Grab a copy of this book to find out how life turned out for Galen among the happenings in Voulhire.
There were many positive aspects to the book. It is the first book in the fantasy series. The book has well-developed characters. Readers can easily relate to and recognize one character from the other, demonstrating how well-developed Matthew's characters are. Lord Meldorath is a typical illustration. He was consistently portrayed in the book as a strong mage and a threat to the kingdom. The book contains a lot of action scenes and suspenseful moments, like the uncertainty of Lord Meldorath's existence. I enjoyed the different plot twists. I like the twist in the plot from the conflict and rivalry amongst the princes to the political struggle in Hillport. I learned from the book. The author stated, "See the good in everything, and the best of it will find you." If you gave it a deep thought, you would find out that everything happens for a reason, and we should manage the situation to our benefit.
The only thing I disliked about the book was that I found the story disjointed. It didn't really flow, as I found it difficult to keep up with the storyline of the book. At some point, I felt bored and lost, as if I hadn't been following the book accordingly. The author made good use of grammar in the book.
I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. I deducted a star because of the negative aspects of the book. I found no errors in the book. This shows that it was exceptionally well edited. I recommend this book to fans of historical fiction and to lovers of action books because they would enjoy reading the book.
