Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies, written by Matthew Tysz, is the first book in the “We are Voulhire” series. It follows a young man named Galen Bray, who has recently immigrated to Voulhire from his war-torn nation, The Lands of the Princes. Magnum Caelum is a small settlement in Voulhire where Galen's great-uncle operates a forge. He leaves his possessions to his great-nephew, whom he has never met, knowing that he is near death. The executor of his great-uncle finds Galen and helps transport him to Voulhire. Rowan assists Galen in settling in while Galen reads his great-uncle's book to learn how to use the forge, and the two quickly become friends.
There are numerous aspects of the book that I enjoyed. The characters were well-developed and each had a distinct personality, to start. My knowledge of Voulhire was expanded. I enjoyed the book's pace as well. It was manageable in speed and made it easier to follow each character. Learning Voulhirian terms was made much easier by the glossary at the book's conclusion. I adore how the author helped us understand each character by focusing on a different one in each chapter. This book's opening chapter captured my attention immediately. The book discussed both science and magic.
There was nothing that I disliked about the book; it was well-written and intriguing. I adore how the book flows right away, describing how the kingdom came to be and how the conflict got started. The book's author was able to extract a variety of images. I adore the writing style as well as the methods used to make the book simple to understand, like the maps and the parts that each character plays at the beginning of the book. Including the map will make it easier for readers to connect the various activities in this book that require moving between different towns. I particularly appreciated how the author took great care to thoroughly depict Voulhire. These explanations aid the reader in forming an image in their minds.
I must praise the author for coming up with such a brilliant and intelligent book. It was an enjoyable book to read, in my opinion. The discovery of this book made me happy. From start to finish, I found it enjoyable. I am rating this book, We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies, 5 out of 5 stars because it was well-structured and interesting to read. There were no grammatical errors or mistakes in it. Therefore, it was exceptionally well edited.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves reading fantasy.
