Being a mathematician naturally makes him a problem solver, and his thirst for knowledge may lead to his demise. Dr. Joseph Tenatt recommends his friend, Sonya Perez, for a classified job with the Navy. He later learns that they are carrying out a dangerous mission with humpback whales. As a collaborative unit, together with his intellectual friends, they are determined not only to save Sonya but also to decipher the message the whales seem to be communicating. They call their language a form of resonance. All the while, they try to shake off the navy from tracing them. But at what cost are they willing to go?

Resonant by Robert Lee happens to be a re-creation of true events that took place. I was dumbfounded by the fact that some of these events took place. This made me love the book more, being that these were real people going through those problems. I gained more insight into humpback whales than I expected. I also learned physics and mathematics concepts, such as how energy exists in discrete packets. Going into the book, I was clueless, though it has given me insight into a lot of things.

I loved the book's characterization. The intellectual perspective was well shown; I had to go and do my research in regards to some of the conversations held by Teddy and Dr. Joe. Clives' character was also interesting with how he carried out his activities. He would pass information to Joe using Joe’s trash can. It also capitalizes on how dangerous and untrustworthy people may be. Acts of malice, betrayal, and death happen without regard for life's importance. It also had its best moments where love, unity, friendship, and trust were relayed. We could also read how Joe’s brain worked as he jumped from one clue to another, bravely outwitting those against him with his brain.

There is nothing I disliked about this book. It was well-edited. I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars due to the knowledge I got from it. It also changed my mindset on a lot of things. It was also fast-paced, hence the rating of 5 out of 5 stars. This is because of how courageous the author is to move forward with publishing this masterpiece. Even with it containing information that almost led to Joe's death, he still shared it with the rest of the world, and I respect him for that.
