Being born BC (Before Computers) I found the introduction to The Great Awakening by Arthur Seymour, a little frightening. I decided to continue reading and try to understand as I went along. As I continued reading, I did not find any difficulties to follow the links provided. Although it is not a children’s book, the narration contains all the elements of a modern-day fairy tale where real humans and artificial intelligence operate shoulder to shoulder in everyday life. It tells the story of a married couple who lives with their four children in a palace that is inside an enormous cave. On the outskirts of the big garden are houses where the village people live. The whole world is in lockdown due to a pandemic that puts people to sleep. Inside the palace are also robots in various forms to help the humans to overcome the evil forces causing the pandemic. The whole village depends on the inhabitants of the palace for guidance as well as a cure. The solution was so simple and hidden in the only age-old truth for mankind.

What I found very captivating was the creative way in which human beings, artificial intelligence, young and old, and mythical and modern ideas were intertwined in the plot. There is even an element of the supernatural present in the story. I also enjoyed the subtle humor and at times the funny elements in the narration. The editing was excellently done, and I did not find any typos. The songs and poems in the book are related to the story and cleverly compiled.

This book could pass as a book for younger readers who are interested in programming and future living also, but towards the end, it gets a little dark when satanic forces engage in the plot.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because of its interesting and futuristic plot, as well as the simple way in which Seymour explains universal concepts. There is also a strong element of positive principles and how good always conquers evil.

I recommend The Great Awakening to all lovers of adventure and futuristic stories. I think young adults, as well as older teenagers, will enjoy it a lot. To the younger readers, I would advise that a parent reads it with them to guide them through more difficult concepts. I enjoyed reading this book very much.
