This book, Terms of Service, is based on an idea of a futuristic way of life. It is complete with Artificial Intelligence technology being the forefront of the world, with only the basic human interaction necessary. It also delves into the idea that the government can control every aspect of your being, down to the path your life goes on, with of course the aid of artificial intelligence. The idea of freewill is long abandoned and all that is left is to follow the Hierarchy who has control over every little thing imaginable.

The positives for me could be quite long for this book. I loved that the backstory, and the character development was just enough to give you what you needed to understand the book and the direction it ultimately took, but not so much as to spoil the tidbits of information that would later surface. It was extremely easy to get fully immersed in this world, and to feel as though you were a fly on the wall watching everything unfold. I found myself wanting to read increasingly more chapters per evening, which is likely why I finished this book in two days time. I also ended up purchasing the second book in the series because I was not ready for the story to end.

The negative for me would have to be the confusion I felt regarding gender and how everyone is referenced within the book. I do not want to go into too much detail, as I feel it would absolutely spoil the storyline. However, I feel like that part eventually made sense later on in the book, so it was not a huge drawback for me.

I would rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars. I gave it this rating because the character interactions and gender roles can be confusing to understand until later in the book. It is definitely a book I would recommend to someone with a similar interest to my own, but not one I would recommend to everyone.

Target audience for this book would be those who like to think in a futuristic sense. Those who are not afraid to follow along with a story as a character develops. Also, someone who really likes the thought of artificial intelligence control being a reality in the future, or possibly the present, however you choose to look at it. You will understand that sentiment once you read the book.
