Review of The Great awakening
The book The Great Awakening by Arthur Seymour is a narrative that was written after another narrative from the book Earth Won. The prequel book is described in a summary by the author as a narrative which is very futuristic. There is a group of robots which will stand against another group of people whose main business will be to put the world into a state of pain and massive destructions. Arthur Seymour in his book, The Great Awakening, gives more light to the prequel book by introducing the actual characters that were to ensure the prophecies of the book Earth Won came to pass. As predicted in the prequel book, the world is faced with a pandemic involving a virus called Comavirus. Comavirus becomes a very contagious infection that could clear all humans globally within a short period of time. It is described as a deadly infection that puts victims into a comatose state. The virus did not just originate from anywhere else but from the actions of humans whom are believed to be the enemies of the world. At this point, it becomes needful for a group of people to rise against the enemies by inventing vaccines that would effectively curb the spread of the virus and even cure it. The author in his vast knowledge in electrical engineering, introduces characters in a close relationship with some programmed robots as the main merchants towards delivering the people from the virus. Seymour, Ruby, their children and Robyn together with the family of Paul, work unitedly and in the highest level of love to help them achieve their ultimate goal. Finally, through the use of simple substances, objects around and of all love, the pandemic comes to an end.
Arthur Seymour’s book The Great Awakening has been an absorbing, contemplative and in some parts a thrilling read. I was very motivated to read the whole book just by learning that the author was already aware of what always turns me off as a reader and probably as any other. Most readers and I in particular, are not always ready to experience interruptions arising from excessive use of QR codes as they read. The author not only informs about these perceived interruptions in prior but also explains their essence in the storyline. I was also pleased with the manner in which the author divided his work. The introductory part begins with two quotes from two prominent people; Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr, with their inspirations on humanity roles and love respectively. As a lover of books, seeing such characters in a book is always my reading drive. While the messages from the quotes could appear less relevant at first, I was very thrilled to learn that they were the main themes captured across the whole book. I found the plot also captivating as it addressed a pandemic that closely relates to the recent Covid-19 pandemic. The author’s intelligence in applying his electrical engineering knowledge from the school to design characters who solved the pandemic was also an inspiration to me.
There are few things that I never liked about the book. I was not very pleased with the excessive use of robots as the main characters of influence in every scene. While I was reading, I found it disgusting using fart sound as an indication that the machines that were invented by Andy and Joey were indeed working. I also noticed that there was no glossary of terms at the end of the story to give a meaning to some vocabularies used in the text and how the author intended to use them. Although the author addressed it in the introductory part, I was not pleased by putting the poem that had the same theme as of the novel after the end of the storyline.
Despite the above problems, I will still give this book five out of five stars as I actually found it very informative, educative and a warning sound to the wrong choices by human. The storyline was also interesting and engrossing as well. I find the problems not enough to deduct a star. However, I noticed a few errors while reading. I therefore suggest some extra editing. Otherwise, the author’s thinking was prominent. He is a genius.
I would recommend this book to young Science students whose dream is to come up with new inventions that would either help save the world or improve it. The family love and unity prominent in the storyline that led to the invention of the ultimate cure for the pandemic is also an encouragement to the young families, that with love and unity, the success of the family is guaranteed. I would therefore recommend it to lovers under a courtship.
