The story develops at a steady pace there is some violence as the story begins, which is the catalyst for the events that shape and unfolds within the book as the author Jeffrey Estrella reels his audience in to a scientific world that is linked to present day. However, The Time Stone. and its intricate story is filled with multi-dimensions, ancient beasts, and mythical creatures. The most unlikely of heroes step forward to fight against the onslaught of evil, in comparison to novellas that take a traditional route to a hero saving the world, The Time Stone. uses multiple methods and connects different individuals together in an ever-engaging adventure to bring his story to a successful consummation.
The relationship between the town’s law enforcements, political members (Mayor) and the nuances that are hinted of creatures that work and operate in what is considered to be a somewhat mundane town and transforms it to the heart of the storm. This gives the book a fun read, as we envision people going about their daily lives unaware of the mythical world that their town is a part of.
The positive aspect of this book is that the story does not drag in anyway, and when you think you have the story figured out, Estrella, introduces side stories that come together to sum the whole. Adversely, a negative feature of the book is that after you have built a connection to the heroes you have to leave their story and learn and develop an attachment to another set of unlikely heroes that also play important roles within the story. This feeling is a bit grudging as you want to stay with the initial characters in the story and not necessarily invest in any other new individuals for the duration of the book.
I recommend this book to the ‘young adults’ age group, that is, ages sixteen and up. I rate this book 3 out of 4 - very good; above average. I rated the book a four, as I found it very entertaining and is quite applicable to a young adult looking for a more mature read. I rate this book 4 out of 5 - very good; above average. While it tackles some adult content in the relating of the heroes’ stories, this excitement and fantasy type adventure is otherwise for the adventurous at heart. The story does not take itself too seriously, instead it builds a world with varying relationships that grows and is almost eulogized to greatness effortlessly.
