The novel The Requium Report by Alison Demzon is Sci-Fi themed and is about an ex cop named Stephanie Mcintyre who works together with government agencies such as the FBI and the CIA to stop a terrorist organisation.

Although I really enjoyed this book I did find at times that the author provided a lot of explanation so there was a lot of telling rather than showing of the characters and situation that they were in.

The character Stephanie herself reminded me of the popular Netflix show character Jessica Jones with the fact that she was a strong female character that does not accept any nonsense.

I really got the feeling that the author had either researched a lot or was previously in law enforcement as there were significant detail with the different types of weapons that the characters used. There was also a lot of scientific information throughout the book which I really enjoyed because even though the book was Fiction I felt like I was learning a lot along the way.

Another aspect of the book that I enjoyed was I found that typical novels in the Adult/Young Adult section seem to always include a love triangle and it can be very predictable. This book however included a Polyamory relationship which I have never read about before. In all honesty I was expecting a lot more sexual content when the Polyamory relationship was brought up however the way it was explained by the author was quite minimal and tasteful which I really appreciated. I also enjoyed the fact that the relationship between the character Stephanie and character TeZa was not the main focus of the story which is another thing that I find a lot of books these days focus on.

I find the idea the author came up with of alternate realities fascinating. It never occurred to me before that people in an alternate reality spoke English but a varied type of English that the characters could communicate with each other but did have trouble initially understanding what each other meant.

Something I will point out is that if I hadn’t read the blurb of the book I wouldn’t have initially picked that the main character Stephanie Mcintyre is a transgender. This was not a negative aspect of the book but it was quite interesting the subtle way it was pointed out throughout the book.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
