Technology develops daily, and although it can be useful, it can also be dangerous. Craig W. Stanfill, in his sci-fi novel, Terms of Service: Subject to Change Without Notice, tells the story of Kim on her journey of freedom from an oppressive administration and self-discovery. The book explores the themes of power, love, and technology.

This three-part book gives the reader a glimpse of what the future will look like if run by Artificial Intelligence. The major character, Kim, lives in a world where everything is controlled by Artificial Intelligence. The first part of the book, titled Spring, introduces the reader to the life of Kim and the work she does. The second part, Summer, deals with the changes in Kim's life as a result of an expedition she had with her friend Shan, which led to a great discovery. Part three, titled Fall, shows Kim in a new light, as one with more information about how things worked in her world. Along the way, Kim begins to question her world and identity. What answers does she get? Read this book to find out.

This book is exciting and, at the same time, engaging; I couldn't help but put myself in the characters' shoes and wonder how life would be if I existed in such a world. The author's writing style was simple, and not being a big fan of sci-fi novels helped me enjoy my reading process. It was thrilling, and I must commend the author for a well-done job in creating this masterpiece. Although Kim was the main character narrating the story, other characters were not neglected, and they all played a vital role in the development of the plot.

I love how the author doesn't use the conventional titles given to the days of the week; he uses something different. Rather than using Monday, Tuesday, etc., he uses Oneday, Twoday, etc. instead. This gives the reader a sense of the difference between the world in the pages of the book and the world they live in. The author's use of italics to differentiate the characters' thoughts and text messages was greatly helpful. It helped me to distinguish the different happenings in the book. I particularly love Shan's character, and her bravery is an attribute to be attained. Although Shan can be reckless, her character is still worthy of emulation.

Although I had several questions about the book, I believe they will be answered in the next book since this is the first in the series. Some of my questions include knowing what becomes of Kim after her punishment. While reading the book, I encountered a few grammatical errors. Aside from these, there is nothing I dislike about the book. As a result, I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars.

I recommend Terms of Service: Subject to Change Without Notice to individuals with a flair for technology. They will have a wonderful time reading it because it will broaden their knowledge of its extent of control. Also, readers who enjoy sci-fi novels will enjoy this book.
