This book is an adventure thriller. It revolves around Delvin, Jarla, and Fionella. A trio who must overcome their differences to save their country. The book has a perfectly working old British setting, with references to violence and magic. Every character in Delvin's story has a decent backstory and a reason for being there. It takes this wonderful story to a whole other level. I liked the speed of the book, each chapter drew you in and made you want to read more. The character Jarla was definitely my favourite. She was witty, fearless, and a well-developed character. The main character, Delvin, also often proved to be a clever and cunning would-be sorcerer who conjures all sorts of ways to get out of trouble. Overall, this book is a wonderfully crafted magical tale that will grab you from the first page and keep you hooked on the last. The Magician's Secret is a must read if you're looking for adventure and fantasy.
I'll give it a genuine 5 out of 5
