Review of Zona: The Forbidden Land
Ever wondered what it is like to lose a loved one? In this adventurous book, Zona: The Forbidden Land by Fred G. Baker, a man named Grant goes on an expedition to look for his missing uncle, Randall Taylor, who was declared dead by the Russian government a year after he went missing alongside his crew members on one of his expeditions.
Grant's uncle, Randall Taylor, is a lover of expeditions. On one of his expeditions, he and his crew members went missing in a strange land and were declared dead a year after there were no signs of them being alive. Dr. Grant Taylor traveled to Russia to inherit his uncle's properties and estates. He met with Randall's attorney, Boris Ustinov, who then told his niece Irina Ustinov to help Grant move into Randall's apartment. On getting to the apartment, to his utmost surprise, he saw a strange man in his uncle's library and chased after him, but he was unlucky; he missed him. Different thoughts began to go through his mind about his uncle's last expedition. He began to make investigations about what really happened to his uncle. He had a feeling his uncle was still alive. Grant, Irina, and a few others set out on an expedition to go in search of Randall and his crew. Get a copy of this book to enjoy this adventurous book.
This is one of the best adventures I have ever read. There were many positive aspects to this book. I'm pleased with the storyline of this book. I love the different plot twists and the introduction of a romantic relationship between Grant and Irina. Baker is a creative writer, which I must admit. The author created in my mind a clear picture of what the land of Zona looks like. I love the author's narrative style and choice of simple vocabulary words. I was full of suspense because of the different plot twists. The major and minor characters were well developed. The introduction of characters like Max made it more interesting. Grant is my favorite character, notwithstanding the fact that he had his flaws but was a brave and courageous man. The expedition he went on was a great risk that could have taken his life.
I must commend the author for this exciting book, but I must also state that I found a few things in this book that I disliked. The book was a bit voluminous. At one point I got bored, coupled with the fact that there were a lot of characters in the book and I wasn't familiar with their names, so I didn't find it easy to keep up with the names of all the characters in the book. Aside from these few negative aspects, it is an amazing book.
I'm rating this book 4 out of 5 stars. I deducted a star because of the negative aspects of the book. I didn't come across any errors in this book. This shows that it was exceptionally well edited. I recommend this book to lovers of adventures.
