The eSmith Eye Story by GranRan is an exciting graphic novel suitable for young readers that teaches a lot of moral lessons and takes its readers on exciting fairytale adventures.

A gray fox named eSmith places his life at risk on several occasions to beat time and get enough barter to free a red foxy fox called Roxie, which he has so desperately fallen in love with from her enslavement to Zeke the local thug who subjects her to work at the local tavern. This book is written in two parts with an additional short tale called the “blue diamond heist” in between both book parts. Book one, “Turn a blind eye” consists of ten chapters and focuses on the gray fox’s mission to free his beloved Roxie from enslavement to the local thug. Book two, “One eye open” also consists of ten chapters and describes the encounter of the gray fox and the fairies of fairyland. Since the gray fox was always getting in and out of trouble, he was captured by the fairies and given guardianship of two sleeping coyote puppies to take care of for a year with a penalty of blindness if he dares abandon the puppies. But the question is: What is he to do when these puppies eventually awake from their slumber after being kept under a sleeping spell for a very long time?

This beautiful book would be found fascinating to any young reader and would keep their interest burning chapter after chapter. Each adventure is coated with mystery, accuracy and humour. GranRan did an amazing job explaining the personality of the gray fox. Being majorly an animal-based novel, the gray fox is viewed as a sly fox, always getting in and out of trouble, and having bags of tricks. The gray fox quickly became my favourite character because of his interesting disposition and trait of always finding a solution to any problem, be it by hook or crook. Plus the graphics were awesome and quickened my interest in reading more.

This book has no negative aspects. I only think it would have been better if books one and two were separated, as this combination made this novel a bit confusing and lengthy. Nevertheless, this book is professionally edited, and error-free and the graphic illustrations are lovely.

I gladly give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. I find no other reason to remove a star from my rating as this book was properly written.

Young Readers from the ages of 8 are the ones I recommend this book to due to some wordings which may be ambiguous or difficult to pronounce for younger readers. However, these younger readers would benefit from looking at the graphic illustrations in the book.
