Matthew Tyz explores power, corruption, and good versus evil in this first sci-fi instalment of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies. On the surface, the kingdom of Voulhire boasts its prosperity and wealth as compared to the little prince countries that are engaged in a war. But as you look closer, Voulhire experiences power struggles between the king and his governing council of the Mianorian. The King cannot pass significant decisions without the support of the council. Things are more complicated since the King has kept a secret from his people and he needs the Mianoria to help the secret from being known. The effects of the power struggle trickle down to ordinary citizens. Some cities enjoy the support of the King and are prosperous in their lives whereas some cities lack governance and leadership.

Galon arrives in Voulhire and is thrilled by what he sees. Everything is different and everything is new. Rowan, his guide and saviour, reminds him repeatedly not to openly show his enthusiasm. Galon appreciates Rowan's help but Rowan seems to be too helpful. Can it be that Voulhire is a paradise and its people, are truly helpful or does Rowan have a cynical agenda behind all his helpfulness?.. King Wilhelm wants the best for his people, the Voulhire. He wants to continue the work of his predecessors to make Voulhire great and more prosperous. But his plans seem to fail. His trusted friend suddenly changes and betrays him without reason. The Mianora council pressure him to announce his successor but refuse to help him fight the rebel group. The Riva Rohavi had been defeated and its activity ceased. But lately, evidence of their comeback is seen through the kingdom. Can it be that they have resurfaced and continued with their cause? And who is behind them? How do they know the activities in the palace? King Wilhelm is surrounded by enemies and he can only trust a few of the people close to him.

I was disappointed about the death of one character. It felt ridiculous considering I was starting to like the killer. I was convinced that the killer was a good guy and that, in the future, they will be allies with the dead character. By the end of the book, I was still puzzled as to who is good and who is evil, who is telling the truth and who is not, and, who are allies. Which was for me, the most enjoyable part of the book. Probably the next book will clarify most of these questions.

The book is professionally edited and easy to read. It also includes a bit of borderline profanity. I recommend the book to teenagers as it's easy to read and understand. Adults will also enjoy the book. It has mystery and readers will have fun trying to unravel who is the good guy.

I rate the book a 4 out of 4 stars for its amazing plot. In We are Voulhire: An New Arrival under Great Skies, Tyz offers intrigue and mystery and presents it so simply and effortlessly. I found it hard to put the book down as it captured me and every page hooked me to the next page. This will also make it easy to finish the whole series. I also give it a 5 out of 5 stars for being one of the best books ever as it is hard to put down.
