The Magician's Secret by Charles Townsend is about the stone that has the power to manipulate people's minds. Delvin will inherit all the belongings of Borlock, his magician instructor, including a one-of kind stone. He will use all the instruments that he possesses to make a living as a traveling magician. His stay in Hengel will be the beginning of his whirlwind journey, where he will meet Jarah and Maeger in a very odd way. Their escapades will be a way to stop the war that is happening between the Argent and Hengel. As they begin traveling, Delvin will discover the power of the stone and he will use it to be able to survive the dangers that they will encounter, especially when they meet the Black Magician.

What I like about the book is the ability of Delvin to think of creative plans and execute it perfectly. Even in circumstances where his life is at risk. I also like his personality when it comes to respecting the higher ups, even if they didn't appreciate what he did. He is the type of person that doesn't need the validation of other people when he did things that deserve proper recognition. Also, he wishes good life to the women he slept with and he never uses them to make irrational actions that may put them in danger.

There is nothing that I don't like about the book, I really love the way Delvin plans to make sure that he will secure the safety of others even if he is under appreciated. The townspeople and higher up's personality is very true to life and that made me love the whole book.

I will rate the book a 4 out of 4 stars, because it is exceptionally edited and I don't notice a mistake. Also, I really admired the creative thinking skill of Delvin; his plans are phenomenal, especially with the casket one. He may not have the ability to fight when it comes to physical power, but his cognitive skills are his greatest weapon, especially with the stone.

I will recommend this book to young adults because they are the ones that will most likely read this type of book. I feel like they will enjoy the adventures of Delvin, Jarah, and Maeger. They will also have a glimpse of the real world, when it comes to the personality of different people with different social classes.
