We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great skies is the first book in the series written by Matthew Tysz. It is a fantasy novel with many characters, which made me confused about who is the protagonist. The novel starts through the perspective of Galen who is migrating from the lands called princes to voulhire. Galen was a resident in in the land of princes, which is devastated by the war between four sons of the ruler so-called the emperor of lullabies. Due to the war Galen has known poverty for his entire life at the lands of princes. When his uncle, who is a blacksmith lives in voulhire dies, inherit his whole wealth to Galen along with the papers for Galen, which is a ticket to get out of the lands of princes. Without a further ado Galen catch the first ship to magnum Caelum which is a small city at the coast of the voulhire where his uncle lived. At magnum Caelum comes another core character called rowan who finds Galen for Galen’s uncle. Rest of the novel introduce the past and present of voulhire through different characters like Wilhelm who is the king of voulhire, lord Eldus who is assigned to improve the hillport, which is a coast of voulhire. Apart from these characters, the novel is rich with many personalities who has no physical appearance or not even having an accurate dialog but have an important role through out the story. Characters like lord meldorath and lord Orlin belong to that category.

The main positive aspect I found in this book is that, the map of the entire voulhire is given initially in the book. Voulhire combines many places with many different names, so it was very helpful with a map to track the journey of persons in the novel. Primarily, a well-defined background and objectives the protagonist Galen is given which was helpful for further understanding of novel.it is also same for lord Orlin, his background and purpose is sharply defined. And at some time of the story line the novel made me eager to read the next page.

When it comes to the negative aspect of this novel, it is very tough to understand the background and purpose some characters, Especially the characters lord meldorath and lord Orlin even tough they have a prominent role through out the book. It would be helpful for the readers if the list of all characters is given with a small description about them as who they are. Even the whole book is read I didn’t get any idea about some roles mentioned in the book which made me confused. There is no defined plot developed until a certain point in the storyline.

I would give a rating of 3 out of 4 stars for this book. The novel is a well fantasy but it seems it is not easy to find the plot. And some characters are too mysterious to understand.

And I would recommend this book to the readers who likes to read fantasy and mystery genre. People who also love science fiction can also read this. And it will be suitable to matured readers as it contains minor sexual remarks and jokes.
