Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
Humanity has been on the move ever since the beginning of time. Some people relocate to be with family, to pursue educational opportunities, or to find employment or economic opportunities. Others relocate in order to flee hostilities, persecution, terrorism, or human rights abuses. Also, some relocate in reaction to the unfavorable consequences of environmental variables like natural catastrophes or climate change.
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies, the first book in the We are Voulhire series, revolves around a fictional character, Galen, a man who has faced adversity in his homeland as a result of wars, injustice, poverty, and a variety of other societal vices. His misery was lifted when he learned that he would be moving to another country to take over his uncle's blacksmithing business. He chose to relocate to Voulhire in search of better opportunities. He met his uncle's estate executor, who would help him settle in well in the city and later became a close friend. Although Voulhire was a beautiful metropolis, it was not without its difficulties and obstacles.
First and foremost, I appreciated the author's inclusion of a map in the first few pages of the book. It enabled me to visualize the city of Voulhire. Mattew Tysz did an excellent job of properly developing the characters. Because of how realistic they were, it felt almost like I was meeting the characters in person. The protagonist's character in the book encouraged me because he was so patient and knew what to do in every difficult situation. The author was skilled at creating suspense. The lore and overall story are so intriguing that I found myself wanting more. The Meldorath section of the story was fascinating.
There were a few things I didn't like about the book, beginning with the protagonist's view of the voyage to Voulhire as a means of escaping his homeland's problems. He had no idea what the next city would be like. No one will be left to address the issues facing society if everyone decides to flee. It does not convey a strong sense of patriotism. Because I believe that change begins with us, the citizens. Additionally, I came across some profane words, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the book. I believe that the profane words used by the author in the book shouldn't be presented to young readers.
I would rate the book 4 stars out of 4 because it was exceptionally well edited and understandable. I would recommend this book to fans of fictional fantasy, mystery, and adventure, as they will have a great time reading it.
