Whether adventures are safe or not, people take the risk of exploring places with the hope of finding personal satisfaction or answers to their curiosity.
After the proclaimed demise of his uncle, Randall, who was an explorer, Dr. Grant Taylor, who was a university professor, moved to Saint Petersburg, Russia to manage the estate left behind by his uncle. On getting to Russia, the speculation surrounding his uncle’s disappearance wasn’t clear enough to him. While searching for answers in his uncle’s house, he came across a gun, some journals, and a letter written to him by his uncle. Reading the letter, his doubts about the authenticity of his uncle’s death came into reality. Not knowing who to trust, he decided to journey to a forbidden land in order to find answers. Is his uncle really dead? Did he find answers in the forbidden land? Read this wonderful book by Fred G. Baker to find out.
Zona: The Forbidden Land is an exciting, suspenseful, and thrilling story. I felt so satisfied and happy after reading this book. The author possessed exceptional writing abilities. He gave thorough details of places, people, and events that occurred in the book. The author showed great descriptive ability while writing this book. Most especially, the map that was placed in the book gave me an imaginary scene of what Zona looked like. While reading the book, it was as if I was watching a movie. I also admired how he managed the characters in the book; they settled in properly and were well developed. I enjoyed how the writer exposed me to some Russian vocabulary. I was able to learn a few Russian words from reading the book. My favorite character was Grant. Although he had his flaws, he was a man with a heart of gold. He gave me a heartwarming moment in the scene where he chose to help some people who had recently abandoned him to die.
This book contains some sexual content, which might be a major turn-off for some readers. Also, teenagers shouldn’t be exposed to some profane words used by the characters in the book because it would be a bad influence on them.
The book was very legible. It was exceptionally well edited, and I found no errors in the book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would gladly give it 4 out of 4 stars. Voyagers and lovers of mystery wouldn’t like to miss out on this book. It is definitely a must-read for them.
