Zona: The Forbidden Land by Fred G. Baker is an intriguing sci-fi about Dr. Grant Taylor, who travels to Saint Petersburg, Russia, to handle his deceased uncle's affairs. Upon arriving, Grant discovers mysterious notes around his uncle's apartment that make him question Randall Taylor's death. Randall, Grant's uncle, was on a secret mission investigating the Siberian region known as Zona . Grant finds out that his uncle has been missing for over a year before the government legally declares him dead. According to Boris Ustinov, his uncle's attorney, Grant isn't allowed to know anything about the mission to Zona . When another expedition to Zona is planned, Grant decides to go along, with his own mission to find his uncle in this mysterious region of Siberia. But once in Zona , several unexpected events take place that could either make or break his quest.

A few positive aspects for me included: in part II of the book, where the journey to Zona starts, the readers get exposed to the animals, plants, nature, and so much more. Fred's writing ability to describe the scenes and locations made the book come alive. Zona is one of those books you cannot put down until you finish it. I liked Grant and Max's character development the most it is outstanding. I looked forward to the action scenes as these were the most exciting parts of the book.

However, I did not quite like how some of the characters in Zona had multiple sexual partners over short periods. These can be dismissed as the result of pollen released by the plants. Other than this, there was nothing I disliked about Zona: The Forbidden Land .

I give Zona: The Forbidden Land 4 out of 4 stars . In my opinion: it was professionally well-edited since there are no errors. The book is fascinating and the author, Fred G. Baker, did a great job capturing his reader's attention. Zona is filled with suspense, mystery, and action scenes keeping the reader on their toes at all times.

I would recommend this book to a more mature audience due to the sexual content and graphic scenes, and for readers who enjoy adventures and mystery as well as action and science-fiction with a romantic theme.
