This is a review of A Dead End Job by Justin Alcala. It’s funny how the person someone becomes in the future begins to be shaped from a very young age. There’s a quote I love so much that says that everything you do is a decision you make towards the person you wish to become in the future. This book showed a perfect fictional illustration of this quote through the likes of the main character. The main character in the book was called Buck.

Buck was a short form of Buchanan Palasinski. At the time of his death, Buck had had a successful career in the hit man profession. He had for a long time been a hired hit man. His behaviours began to be cultivated when he was a small boy. When he became friends with Nick Griffin, Griffin was very naughty. From then on, he was doomed to work in a dead-end job instead of a high-end job.

I liked reading this book so much. Most especially because it views life from a retrospective point of view. A person’s life after death has always been something I’ve always wanted to have a glimpse of. The book was very intriguing and interesting. Some parts of the book had very rich humour. I found myself laughing so many times. It was full of flavour and life, which is kind of awkward to say because death was majorly the prevailing theme in the book. I also enjoyed the roles of the characters. My favourite was the angel of death.

I did not spot any grammatical errors and editorial issues in the book. The book was well written and well edited. I liked the way the characters were well-developed. The author did a good job on the narration of the story. I, however, felt that it was a bit too fictitious. This, on the plus side, was very entertaining. So I had no problem with the fiction part. I generally enjoyed reading this book.

I therefore rate this book as 4 out of 4 because I enjoyed reading it. The themes that have been communicated and how they have been out across in the book majorly influenced my rating of the book. They were brought out nicely and well illustrated. I would like to recommend this book to people who love fictional writings. However, as a point of disclaimer, I would like to caution readers that it contains outrageous fiction. Someone can easily get upset or bored if they don’t like too much fiction.
