In the book Doyle’s Law by Sam Roberts, we see the story of 3 caretakers and a forgotten old astronaut unfold. Onboard the decaying Spaceship orbiting Venus O'Conner, McSweeney, and Benson, the three caretakers are trying to salvage as much as they can from the decaying spaceship while staying out of disgraced astronaut Ryburn's crazy experiments with magnetic rocks. Tensions run high as the 4 men start to blame each other for mysterious happenings around the ship. When disaster finally strikes Ryburn and his crazy experiment may be their only form of escape. The only question is, will they all make it? Or will one of them finally break under the pressure?

I personally loved this book. It was well written there was both character and plot development and the story was expertly told. You will see how these characters grow and some become better people with more understanding for the people around them which is exactly what I like to see in a good book. The plot of this book is an excellent one with a mystery that will have you confused at first and then slowly but surely everything will fall into place. It was excellently told; this story could’ve been very confusing if it was not told correctly but once the pieces started falling into place, I no longer felt confused or lost and all the explanations given made perfect sense.

It must be noted that the author uses the first few chapters to set up the base of the story and I assure you everything in those first few chapters are vital and important to the story, you just have to stick around long enough for it to make sense. As I said earlier the first few chapters are confusing and some people my even find the story to be moving a bit slow, but once the pieces start falling into place the story picks up speed and doesn’t lose its momentum until the last sentence. The plot development is fantastic and you can tell a lot of thought went into this book, when I was done reading it, I had no questions left unanswered. The author did an excellent job at making sure every possible aspect of the core story was covered and explained, even the title made sense by the end of it.

I cannot think of anything negative to say about this book besides the first few chapters are a bit slow and as I've already stated this is necessary to the plot and story. The characters may also be unlikeable at first but I warmed up to them quickly as the story unfolded and I understood their actions better. All in all, this book was in a word perfect for me personally. It had everything I liked, an action-packed plot, loveable characters and a mystery all rolled into one great story.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I would wholeheartedly rate it 4 out of 4 but I did find a few spelling and grammatical errors, not so many that it affected my reading experience but they were there nonetheless. The characters also swore a lot which wouldn’t normally bring my rating down but that coupled with the spelling mistakes and the slow start made me decide to give it 3 out of 4.

I highly recommend this book to mature sci-fi lovers who like a little mystery sprinkled into their space travel. I would also recommend this book to people who don’t like a lot of romance in their books as there is barely any romance at all in this book.
