Rise of the Saviour by Antoine Bonner is a sci-fi fantasy tale about Amanda, a young lady who dreams of a life other than heroism but fate unexpectedly drags her down this route. She first opposes this endeavour because of the multiple fatalities it entails. But rather than seeking revenge, she learns to accept and acknowledge the most crucial secret of heroism: making a sacrifice to save others. She finds support and company with her arch-rival sister resorted to her friend, Saira; Kid, another soldier in the ATRA organization; and her dear deity and dog, Ameena. This novel dwells on a battle between good and evil against Jamie, her next-door neighbour and doctor, and his henchmen, Jacob, Chigaru, Grim and Nancy who seek her downfall to push their own devilish and negative interests.

Because of the twists and turns employed by Antoine to present the novel in a more positive light, I enjoyed reading this book. I enjoyed how he portrayed Saira, Amanda's sister as clever and resilient, but also as the one who had the first inkling of these weird events while others thought she was being illogical. I particularly enjoyed Amanda's growing friendship with her sister as the novel progressed. Most importantly, I appreciated the action combats Antoine provided us with, particularly the gunshots which provides readers with actual action-packed content. More so, the descriptive colourful costume changes at various intervals, such as Amanda's red suit and skin-tight white bodysuit and Jamie's dark cloak and bracelets, fascinated me. I appreciated the constant support and assistance every one of these acolytes offered one another in times of dire help and need. I was also very much fascinated by Antoine's portrayal of reincarnation in the prior acolytes which violates the novel's logic of immortality. Another consequence that should not be disregarded is the teleportation into different portals.

However, as enjoyable as this novel appears to be, the plot feels convoluted to follow with too many stories to keep track of. As a result, several of the action parts quite are superfluous and the plot feels stretched out when the novel should have been finished sooner.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. This is due to the novel's success as a story filled with engrossing plot twists to relish. The author, on the other hand, could do a better job of making it simple for the readers to understand without having to read a page many times.

I recommend this book to anyone who appreciates science fiction and superhero stories because it is one they will look forward to, especially the moment the hero succeeds and saves the day after a series of fruitless attempts. It is however unsuitable for a wide spectrum of audiences, though, because it contains profanity.

I have read this book. While it has a good general idea, I did not like how the writer executed it.

The title of this book is power but the cover page is scary, but I will give it a try because of the title. Great review.

I think this book will be perfect for anime fans such as myself. I like that Amanda later accepts her destiny and tries to fulfill it. Thanks for the intriguing write-up.
