Review of Rise of the Savior
Rise of the Saviour is an Action fantasy book by Antoine Bonner. The main character is an 18-year-old girl Amanda. She is moody, grumpy, sometimes chaotic but she's not a bad person. She lives a normal life with her family. As a teen, she has all the problems a teen normally has. Worrying over getting admission to a good college and being independent are some of them. Her family is also pretty ordinary leaving her sister Saira. Although she is just 6-year-old, she is too mature for her age. Sometimes she says some weird things about deities that no one can understand. We should also add that she is also unable to show emotions. She irritates Amanda but, she still wants to mend her relationship with her emotionless sister. But, there is more to the story. There are deities and acolytes that normal people don't know about. And Amanda is the Acolyte of Truth. Although she doesn't awaken her powers until her near-death experience. Not only that, but she needs to save the world from an unknown danger that is about to come. She also needs to become stronger to protect her sister. Can she achieve all that when the grains of sand are gradually falling and the danger is about to come?
This story is something that I would read on a summer day sitting on my couch and eating my favourite bag of potato chips. This book has a marvel vibe to it. Many factors make this a classic action-fantasy novel. The fight between a hero and a villain, the clumsy nature of the main character, their love for their family, an arc for character development, and last but not least, their strong will to fight against evil and save the world. Even though Amanda might not seem like a good main character at first, but she tries to make herself better. Saira was my favourite character throughout the book. She is exceptionally sharp-minded for just a 6-year-old girl. She makes decisions rationally and she is also a good strategist. Even though she doesn't show her emotions fully, she too, deeply cares for Amanda. There are also many other characters in the story.
My honest opinion about this book is that it isn't a really good book but it's also not bad. Although the story seems good but it's too cliche and sometimes falls out of place. The chapters are sometimes short and sometimes long. It makes the book difficult to read. Also, the fight scenes weren't that intriguing and only slowed down the book. The thing that I liked about this book is Amanda and Saira's relationship. They were both each other's shield and sword.
In the end, I would like to give this book a 4 out of 4 stars as the book seems to be professionally edited. If you're an action story fan or love stories with heroes in them, then this book might please your mind. Youngsters and teenagers would also find this book interesting.
