The Time Stone is a sci-fi adventure written by Jeffrey Estrella. Four unlikely individuals from various tracks of life are thrown together by what seems to be fate. James Timewalker is a homeless bum that suddenly has psychic vision and special powers. Tina Prescott is James’ high school crush and a college dropout that has skills and experience at small crime and street smarts. They have their run of the mill lives interrupted when they get accused of murder and end up in jail together. Joining the team is Mercedez Gonzales, who is a normal young American girl with no planned life goals and is being wrongfully deported because of an assault. Also Milton Drax, an attorney that was employed by Temporo Inc. with great possibilities of moving up in the company, until he decided he is not villain material.

Together they are on the run from the authorities, trying to clear their names and get their lives back. In the process to do just that, they travel through various times – future and past – drive a flying car, fight scary and mean beasts while saving the world from ultimate disaster. There is even some fast romance cramped in the storyline.

For me this book is a display of creative imagination, especially the descriptive beasts that the heroes have to fight. Jeffrey Estrella managed to create a constant, throughout the book, between the various timelines and it’s parallel to each other. This could only have been executed with good research engines done on the various timelines. There are some surprises and twists that made it more readable and added some excitement factors.

The storyline is at times very confusing due to the introduction of too many a characters and scenes that appear not applicable to the four unlikely heroes and their growth. Character development is not what you would expect for heroes, and is to some point disappointing. The lack of good grammar and dialogue flow made reading quite strenuous. Even the bit of romance that does appear is abrupt and fast, and leaves the reader hanging as no time or space is provided in the storyline for realistic growth in the relationships.

I will rate this book a 2 out of 4 stars and require some refocusing. It is definitely reading material that is suitable for the more experienced reader and adventure seeker with their wits about them to puzzle the scenes together.
