Galen embarks on a journey to the kingdom of Voulhire. This journey is not one of pleasure, but one of survival. This is his chance to start all over and live without the fear that he will be killed in his bed. The one thing that gave him his ticket out of his country (of death) was his uncle's inheritance. So he must learn how to be a blacksmith even though he has never forged a single sword in his life. But it seems like fate has more in store for him. He will soon learn that there are people living and sleeping in Voulhire whose thoughts towards this kingdom are not thoughts of good, but of evil.

I have never read or seen an adventure novel like We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies. It is a blend between modern-day and medieval times. There are no cars or airplanes, but there are modern home utensils that make life better. Matthew Tysz highlighted each feature of the present and the past in this book so well that I fell in love with his description and storytelling capabilities. Yes, there is much that I loved about the book, but his description of events and things is my favorite.

The least favorite feature for me is the way the chapters are named after the characters that they feature. I know that this may just be the author's way of experimenting and trying to slowly do away with the traditional chaptering of books. But I like the old way better than this way. I like to keep track of my progress and just page or location numbers won't cut it for me.

We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies gets 4 out of 4 stars for its beautiful and image-inducing description, excellent editing (no errors), and a very very interesting storyline. I know that this is not a standalone novel and it is only the first of nine, but that did not stop me from loving the book. It served as an appetizer for me and only succeeded in making me crave its sequel and the sequel after that.

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies is perfect for adventure book lovers. It has all the features of a book that readers who are in love with medical adventure novels will like. It also has a bit of modern-day science in it. Although this is just the first book in its series, I promise that you will love it enough to want to follow the series till the end.
