Chasing The Red Queen written by Karen Glista is a mix of romance, action, sci-fi, and fantasy. This is the story of 18 years old Donja. Donja follows a gothic lifestyle as a facade to escape from her father’s death. She couldn’t believe that her mother has moved on and had married Carson. And more to her shock she decided to move in with her newly-wed husband to Hampton Manor with his daughter Makayla. On the other side Torin Mancini, an immortal Iridescent is investigating about sudden deaths of young girls in their early 20s all of them are killed under the same pattern. He soon discovers with his special skills that these kills are done by one of his kind. Soon, he finds that Donja is the next target of the killer because her bloodline is the rarest of all. What makes her special? Was Donja saved by Torin? These questions make the plot of the novel.

To me, this book is more of a romance genre, than any other genre I mentioned. Few concepts described in this book are completely new to me. The book has every emotion in it like humor, drama, horror, suspense, mystery, action, etc., The author built the readers’ curiosity by knitting a lot of puzzles and also impressed by solving them which rekindled the interest for the next twist.

One of the positive aspects I mentioned about this book has also its negative impact. The new concepts jumped into the plot all of a sudden, and the readers couldn’t find any definition to the terms in the book, which makes the flow of the book interrupt. The author could have concentrated on two or three genres because it feels like none of the genres is explained intensively. I felt like the author should have concentrated more on the romance part.

I would rate this book 2 out of 4 stars. The author could have given more concentration to the editing as we can find many grammatical and spelling mistakes in the paragraphs. I was unable to enjoy the book completely mainly because of the new concepts without clear explanations, so I had to pause reading and google for some clear ideas and then continue reading. The book would have gained a star if the concepts were explained.

I suggest this book to readers who are interested to read books with multiple genres. I would also like to suggest this book to non-human-romance fans.

I agree with you. There are terminologies which the author should have briefly introduced on the prologue part. Her prologue only focused on the seven spirits.
