It is the year 2046. Technology advancements have made this world more comfortable for humans. No more nuclear weapons and as a result no more threat to the human race. Suddenly one day, the world faces a blackout after several years. And there is also a trace of a nuclear detonation. Director Richard Bustos investigates this scenario, wonders from where did anyone get these nuclear weapons, as he was the one responsible to demolish all kinds of nuclear weapons 25 years ago. Meanwhile what if we come to know that all the theories and inventions about the origin of humankind were a lie? What if the creator of humankind is not the god, but an alien from an extraterrestrial origin? Fascinating right? Now that is the plot of the sci-fi novel Legacy written by Sean T. Smith.

I loved this book. The character development was accurate for everyone. And it is impressive for the author to think about a few cool technology advancements we might reach in the future. The description by the author was enough for me to imagine the future world because the gadgets and the facilities were not even close to what we have now. The conversations were engaging as well as emotional. I could imagine a movie script out of it.

I’m afraid to say there are a lot more negative aspects to this book than I imagined. All the characters come into the plot casually, so it was hard for me to follow when they appeared out of nowhere. This novel has covered every topic that we usually expect in a sci-fi novel and it is too much on the reader's plate. It would have been good if there were only two or three topics. Even though the author has attempted to explain completely new concepts, it was still confusing. As the chapters grew so much anticipation, I expected a dramatic ending, but the reality was a little bit disappointing to me.

Although I love this novel, I give this 3 out of 4 stars. Mainly because of the first two negative aspects I mentioned. The author could have concentrated a bit more on editing as well.

The plot is more complicated but I would recommend this book to hardcore sci-fi lovers, who would have read all the must-read sci-fi novels and are eager to dive into the level of complexity Legacy has. I would like to give a little warning, that it would be tough for people whose first language is not English to understand, as the vocabulary is harder.
