After Amanda and her father got in a horrifying car accident, nearly claiming both their lives, Amanda was approached by a deity asking her if she wanted help. Amanda immediately agreed, in her half-conscious state, after witnessing the bad physical condition her father was in. Amanda learns she is the acolyte of truth and the supposed savior of the world. At first, Amanda did not want anything to do with all of what is being revealed to her. She just finished high school, wants to go to college and also pursue a career in karate, while also trying to figure out why her sister underwent a complete personality change over the last few weeks. Her only desire is to live a normal life. She is unprepared to accept her power and be a hero. Meanwhile, Doctor Jamie Connor, who is treating her father, has his own problems to deal with. He just found out that his son, Lucas, has terminal cancer. Jamie will do anything to save his son. Therefore he makes a deal with another deity, to save his son. Jamie is the acolyte of death. This deal set in motion a lot of battles between acolytes and deities. Jamie has to kill other children so that he can restore his son's life force. It's only when Amanda realizes that her six-year-old sister is Jamie's next victim, that she embraces her fate and works with an agency that can assist her in destroying Jamie and save the world. She and her sister, Saira, who is also an acolyte, face a lot of heartbreak and challenges while also learning how to use their newfound powers. With the help of their new friends from the agency, will they be able to rise victorious in the end? Rise of the Savior: Acolyte of Truth by Antoine Bonner, is a standalone novel, but is also the prequel to the first novel in the Rise of the hearts series.

I loved reading this extraordinary fantasy novel by Antoine Bonner and can't wait to read the rest of the books in the Rise of the hearts series. There were a few moments where I got goosebumps, because of the way the two sisters, who are complete opposites, came together to form a perfect duo when it came to fighting their enemies. This book, proves that friends can become more like family, especially since that is all they have left. The team comes together, like a family, and always has each other's backs. The author has extreme talent in creating diverse characters and has a way of keeping you on the edge of your seat with all the mysteries behind some of the characters. She knows how to keep the readers captivated, with a fast-paced, action-filled story, from beginning to end. It's a unique story with a plot like no other I have read.

The only aspect that I did not like at first was keeping up with all the characters, with their different powers, and their acolytes and deities. There are a lot of references to Buddhism, Hinduism, and ancient Egyptian mythology which I knew nothing about. After doing a bit of research on some of the references they use like: prana signatures, kundalini, chakras, and a few more, I took pleasure in reading the book further.

Overall I would say that this book is well edited with only a few minor errors, that don't prevent the flow of text, which is why I read the entire book. There are a few instances where they use profound language and there are a lot of graphic violent scenes. I had a hard time putting the book down because the further I read it, the more I wanted to keep reading it. With that being said I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.

I won't recommend this book to sensitive readers, because of all the graphic violent scenes. I do, however, recommend this book to fantasy lovers who enjoy an exceptional novel with strong and strange characters, each with their own acolyte and kundalini. There is another world to discover in portals and realms opening and a very mysterious acolyte, who also happens to be a witch...
