Tales from the Gray Area by Curtis Stephen Burdick is a compilation of seven mind blowing novellas defined by the author as “A Shadowy Realm of the Imagination that Defines Reality”. Every novella leaves a wide scope for the story to flow in numerous directions which hook the reader to read further tales to hype their dopamine. The author has covered most of the intriguing concepts from reincarnation to unexpectedly discovering the unknown creatures from the depths of the waters who are just not limited to their habitat.

What I loved about this book is that though the themes of most of the tales are something that we have read earlier too, the author made it stand out by bringing tremendous twists in the plots. Vacation from Hell is the one I would love to read a full length version of. The characters depicted in the tale are fantasised remarkably and I am sure you will not be able to forget Dwayne that easily. After the above mentioned tale comes, the Bottom Dwellers, as it's based on science fiction with well explained facts. The words used to describe the creature made quite a horrifying image in my head, which in turn made me want to know more about how humans would tackle such a situation awakened by the unforeseen discovery.

I cannot think of anything which I didn't like about the Tales from the Gray Area. It is well edited except for a few insignificant errors and exhibits the in-depth knowledge the author carries of different subjects such as oceanography, ancient myths, undeciphered languages, archaeology etc. From science to myths, nothing seemed off in any of the novellas.

As the author Curtis Stephen Burdick has left no room for criticism from the readers, I will reward this book with 4 out of 4 stars without any hint of doubt. The minute errors didn't hinder my reading experience at all. What added shimmers to the words penned by the author was the tint of humour that was present in the novellas like Reincarnation and Vacation from Hell.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is always looking for science fiction, occult and adventure with suspense in the books gallery to quench their thirst to read unique concepts. This book will leave you with immense possibilities at the end of each novella. So, if you are always ready to drive your imagination to every corner of your brain, then this book is just right for you!
