Solaris Seethers (Solaris Saga book 1) by Janet McNulty is a thrilling adventure where the reader travels with a thrown together team in a quest to save her planet. Solaris brings together Rynah, Solon, Alfric, Brie and Tom as a hodgepodge team where everyone has their own strengths but must find common ground that spans centuries and galaxies. While it is set in an entirely alien environment Janet McNulty gives sensory details that allow readers to be submerged in the different planetary environments throughout their quest to restore order in the universe and protect other planets from the evil plot for power and destruction.

Some positive aspects of Solaris Seethers (Solaris Saga book 1) by Janet McNulty are the humor that is scattered throughout. Janet McNulty allowed each character to voice their personality through the book in extremely believable formats. The shining points of humor allowed even the most obscure situations to feel familiar and understandable. The planets are phenomenally described from the tactile details to the sensory information about what the characters experienced. The story was paced well so that the reader was being pulled along and felt wrapped in the action without being bogged down with the descriptions of environment. A careful balance was found between imagery and action that made the story enticing and exciting. There is something wonderfully exciting about a ship that has a personality and does not put up with the squabbles of the crew it is carrying, Solaris being an active character is phenomenal and her personality was a surprising divergence from the typical vehicle/spaceship that can talk.

A negative aspect of this book is that Rynah’s coloring, different from human coloring due to being from a different planet, was given piecemeal and it was difficult to have a mental image of what exactly she looked like, beyond clothing, until about halfway through the book.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because it was a novel take on the familiar adventure epic. The sensory details used, personalization of characters, and pacing of the story allowed the reader to enjoy the experience of reading without any sense of missing key information or being stuck in a dry or dull part of the story. Solaris Seethers (Solaris Saga book 1) by Janet McNulty is exceptionally well edited with no errors throughout.

Solaris Seethers (Solaris Saga book 1) by Janet McNulty is a wonderful book for anyone looking to start a new epic adventure series that is a new spin on an intergalactic story. The introduction sets a tone for adventure with a perspective that is unexpected and a ship with personality and a little bit of sass. Solaris Seethers (Solaris Saga book 1) by Janet McNulty is an extremely readable book that is difficult to put down once started.
