Alex discovered an alien spaceship and since then his life has been a whirlwind of craziness. A few years and a few adventures later, Alex gets called in to investigate a possible alien machine in an iceberg. While Alex goes to investigate, another team in a different part of the world is experimenting with a piece of alien technology to alter the weather. Alex soon discovers a life on this alien machine. After making contact with this life, they discover that they are at odds with each other, and some awful things start to occur. It is going to take all of Alex’s team and this other team to make things right again. This is James M. Corkill’s story, The Alex Cave Series Book 5: Pandora’s Eyes.

Pandora’s Eyes is such a fun read. It is an equal mix of science, fantasy, and adventure. The reader gets to learn different aspects of space travel. The physics, the expenses, all of the complexities that go into it. We also get to see Corkill’s view on alien life. His interpretation of how they could look, act, speak, what their civilization could be, etc. Finally, we readers get to go on the adventures that these characters go on.

Where this novel is fun and exciting, it also has its moments of confusion. Every few pages the perspective changes to someone else, and they are always in a different state or country. This leads to confusion because there are so many different characters doing completely different things and it is hard to keep track of who is who. It is also hard to keep a timeline since they travel so much they are in different countries in just a matter of a couple of words.

I would recommend this novel to those of all ages who are into space travel and alien life forces. That being said, fans of The X-Files, this is the novel or even the book series for you. I would also recommend reading this series in order. Pandora’s Eyes can be read as a stand-alone novel, but there are obvious references to the first four books in it. Therefore, reading this series in order will create a better understanding of Corkill’s world and will create a more enjoyable experience while reading it.

I would rate this novel 2 out of 4 stars. It is a great and imaginative story, which makes it a very enjoyable read. However, I took two stars away because of the confusing structure of the novel and because of grammatical errors. Overall, Pandora’s Eyes is a fantastic story with great characters.
